Date: September 2009
Role: Information Architecture, Design, Front-end development, Back-end development
Technologies: Pen and Paper, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks, Aptana, XHTML, CSS, PHP, WordPress, Multiple Plugins
The Challenge: Take an existing site with 400+ pages, 200,000+ words of content, and a history of organic growth resulting in a main menu with over 25 top level links, and provide a framework that multiple users can engage with that will service the school for the next 10 years.
Our Solution: The key to Hutt Valley High Schools site, was defining a robust site structure that differentiated between static content that changed irregularly from important information and notices that needed to be delivered to specific audiences within the school. This resulted in a segmentation of information into audience groups of parents, students and teachers drawing out key content for each group and delivering it to them on specific pages designed for their use.
